Opening of Exhibition on Identity gives hope and inspiration amidst Corona restrictions

Updated: Oct 29

Yesterday, on October 22, 2020 the exhibition "IDENTITÄT" has been opened by the Jewish Community in Frankfurt. 18 Jewish and non-Jewish artists have developed artworks on the theme of "Identity", some of them especially for the location. The show will be on display at the Ignatz Bubis Community Centre until November 15, 2020.

The exhibition takes place on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the town twinning Frankfurt - Tel Aviv. It is sponsored by the City of Frankfurt and the Hessian Ministry of Art and Science.

I was honoured to help make this exhibition possible: Since 2019, Daniela Lewin, Head of Cultural Affairs of the Jewish Community, and I have been looking for the most promising artists, that have recently graduated from international art academies like Slade School and Goldsmiths' College London, the Städel School Frankfurt, the Israeli art academies Beit Berl and Bezalel, the Slade School and Goldsmiths College London. Among the graduates are also master students of internationally renowned artists such as Andreas Gursky, Katharina Grosse and Tobias Rehberger. Already in 2000 I have realized a similar project for Deutsche Bank together with Prof. Bernd Kracke, President of the HfG Offenbach.
